Who we are
The Metro 1827 is a residential and mixed-use building at 1827 Albert Street, Regina, Saskatchewan, owned and operated by Regina Metro GP Inc.
This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, why we collect it, and what we do with it. We've tried to write it plainly rather than in legal language, because a policy nobody can read isn't much of a policy.
What we collect
When you contact us or ask about a suite, parking, or storage, we collect your name, email address, phone number, and whatever you tell us about what you're looking for.
When you book a showing, your appointment is handled through Microsoft Bookings. Microsoft collects your name, email, and phone number in order to confirm and remind you about the appointment.
When you apply to rent, we collect considerably more, because we have to: legal name, date of birth, contact information, current and previous addresses, landlord contact information, employment and income details, supporting documents such as pay stubs or a T4, photo identification, emergency contact information, vehicle details, and information about anyone who would be living with you.
When you submit a maintenance request as a resident, we collect your name, suite number, contact information, a description of the issue, any photo you attach, whether we may enter when you're not home, and whether there are pets in the suite.
When you simply visit the website, our analytics tools record standard technical information: pages viewed, approximate location, browser and device type, and how you arrived. This is aggregate information about traffic patterns, not an attempt to identify you personally.
Why we collect it
- To answer your question or return your call
- To schedule and confirm showings
- To assess rental applications, which includes verifying income and employment and contacting the references you give us
- To administer a tenancy if you become a resident
- To respond to maintenance requests and maintain the building
- To meet our obligations under Saskatchewan residential tenancy law
- To understand how people use the website so we can improve it
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with anyone for their own marketing purposes.
Consent
By submitting a form on this website, you consent to us collecting and using that information for the purposes described above.
Rental applications carry a further consent: submitting an application authorizes us to verify the information in it, which may include contacting your employer, contacting your current and previous landlords, and obtaining a credit or tenancy report. That consent is set out on the application itself.
You can withdraw consent at any time, subject to legal and contractual limits. Withdrawing consent while an application is in progress will generally mean we can't continue assessing it.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only where it's necessary:
- Service providers who help us operate, such as our property management software, credit and tenancy reporting agencies, and the companies that host this website and our booking calendar. They may only use the information to provide their service to us.
- References you have given us, including employers and previous landlords, and only to verify what's in your application.
- Where the law requires it, including a court order or a lawful request from a government authority.
Some of these providers store information on servers outside Canada. Where that's the case, the information may be subject to the laws of that country.
How long we keep it
We keep information only as long as we need it.
- Inquiries that don't lead anywhere: generally about one year
- Unsuccessful applications: generally about one year, unless you ask us to remove it sooner
- Resident records: for the tenancy and for the period afterward required by tenancy, tax, and accounting law
When we no longer need information, we destroy it or render it anonymous.
How we protect it
We use reasonable safeguards appropriate to how sensitive the information is. Application documents such as identification and pay stubs are treated as sensitive and access is limited to staff who need it to do their work.
We'll be honest with you: no method of transmitting information over the internet is completely secure. If you'd rather deliver identification or income documents in person at the office, you're welcome to.
Your right to see it and correct it
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask for a copy, and ask us to correct anything that's wrong. Write to us at the address below. We may need to verify your identity first, and we'll respond within a reasonable time.
Cookies and analytics
This website uses cookies and similar technology to understand traffic and improve the site. You can turn cookies off in your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work as well.
Other websites
This site links to services we don't control, including Microsoft Bookings for appointments and Queen City 3D for virtual tours. Once you're on one of those, their privacy policy applies rather than ours. We'd encourage you to read them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The date at the top tells you when it last changed. Material changes will be posted here.
